Behind the
typical love story that is Toradora , there is some society’s issues which are
represented in this anime:
- The most important issue represented in Toradora is certainly the mistake people do toward the others because of their appearance.
- Another issue represented here is the problem between the parents and their children.
This problem is first represented when
Ryuuji tells his mom he does not want to be the one she was not able to be:
succeed where she has failed and continues his study.
It is a recurrent problem that parents hope their child succeeds where they have failed but sometimes they force their child to be a person he does not want to be; like a father who wants his son to be a sportsman or a mother who wants her daughter to be a model for example.
The second example of this issue shows in the story when we learn about Yasuko's past (Ryuuji's mother): she runs away from her parents because they wanted her to abort Ryuuji (Yasuko was very young when she had Ryuji she was 18 and Ryuji's father left her).
This misunderstanding between her parents and her feeling: wanting to keep her son, separates Yasuko and their parents until Ryuuji arrange a meeting between them to reconcile them.
Nowadays there are many divorces and second marriage, and this feeling of insecurity that Taiga feels, is felt by many other children in the whole world.

- Third issue represented in the anime is the problem of blended family.
Nowadays there are many divorces and second marriage, and this feeling of insecurity that Taiga feels, is felt by many other children in the whole world.
- Finally the two main characters meet the same problems: they are both child neglected by their father.
Ryuuji's father was a delinquent, Yasuko and Ryuuji do not know where he is, that may be the reason why Ryuuji hates him, plus the fact that he has inherited the look of his father which scared the others.
Taïga knows her father but he does not really care about her, during the story he tries to return to her side and makes her believe that she will live with him but finally he leaves her at the worst moment.
